24 the DEC, 2017- It was the day that many suburban quizzers were waiting for; some for the junior quiz; some for the first ever open feluda quiz. It was the 6th edition of Qui9 Annual Quiz festival.
With minor hiccups and irregular train scheduling forced the junior quiz a delayed start. It started around 10.45 am. Around 22 teams attended the quiz from various schools including prestigious Calcutta Boys High School and Don Bosco School. Nonetheless the preliminary round was a deal of enjoyment as the cutoff was as high as 20 out of 30. 9 teams were selected as usual. At last Sourasis Bose and Arijit Mondal won the quiz closely followed by Chirodeep Patra and Aditya Narayan Sen. A few junior teams also performed quite well. We wish them a great quizzing career ahead. It was the first qui9 annual of our extended family.

Now came the time, that was muchly anticipated by all the quizzers and also some of the diehard bookworms. A quiz on our favorite Feluda. Housefull board was declared before the quiz perhaps. This was high time when as much as 49 teams took part. It was a scene to behod as the hall was all overflowing with high emotions. At the end Pintu chakraborty and Kaustav Nath claimed the Champions’ hat, followed Ayan bandyopadhyay and Subhomoy Ghosh. Suman Niyogi and Jaydeep Guha Thakurata came third. Thus the fairy tale ended.

Now was the time for the flagship event – Open Grand Open Quiz. We were 2 hours late to start (Something we are very sorry about and will try to rectify at most). The open quiz had as much as 35 teams.Teams coming from Hoogly, Medinipore, 24parganas, Kolkata made our day joyous. The finals started with 9 teams with pretty similar faces. After a rigorous 7 rounds of quizzing the curtain came down. Indranil Mukherjee and Aakash Roy donned champion’s hat where Partha Sarathi Ghatak and Arindam Dottoh claimed first Runners up position, whereas as Samrat Dutta and Saswata Chakraborty came third Team of Subikash Paul and Izhar Ansari too played very well.
Other finalist included: Ayan Bandyopadhyay Subhomoy Ghosh
Sutanu Banerjee Arupratan Aich Sumon Niyogi Joydip guhathakurata Kaustav Nath Biswadeb Sarkar from akademos and Anshuman Ray Abhisek Mukherjee from Quizone.
Thus this year’s annual quiz festival ended with much reverie. We will try and make ourselves more enriched and try to be more punctual on time purposes. Till then, keep the hunger of quizzing alive. Qui9 forever.
